Scores of jib cranes and STS cranes operate in the Port of Ashdod, among them also the highest and broadest cranes in Israel, providing an answer to almost all types of sea crafts. The cranes are maintained by the personnel of the Port’s Equipment Department, staffed by first class professionals, among them mechanical and electrical engineers, supervisors, forklift operators and crane operators.
The cranes serve on the docks alongside which the ships are anchored as well as the storage areas for the containers on the piers.
The equipment is spread out on the piers and the container storage areas:
Pier 1: 10 jib cranes, manufactured by Boom, load-lifting capacity of up to 15 – 25 ton.
Pier 3: 7 Double Jib Cranes (5 manufactured by KE and 2 manufactured by Boom), with a load-lifting capacity of up to 35 – 50 tons.
Pier 5: 5 Kocks Double Jib Cranes, and 1 KE, with a lifting capacity of upto32-35 tons.
Pier 7: 5 STS cranes, with a load-lifting capacity of 40 tons.
Pier 9: 2 Double Jib Cranes manufactured by KE, with a loaf-lifting capacity of 50 tons, 3 STS cranes, manufactured by Kocks, with a load-lifting capacity of 40 tons.
Container storage areas A-B-C: 10 RMSC cranes with a lifting capacity of 35 tons, (4 manufactured by Kocks, three manufactured by Kone and three by Hillgers)
Pier 21: 6 Double Jib Cranes, lifting capacity of 50t, manufactured by Feleguera.
Pier 23: 6 STS Cranes with a load-lifting capacity of 40/55 tons, manufactured by Kocks.
Container storage areas YO-7: 24 RTG Cranes with a load-lifting capacity of 40 tons.
