The Security Department

 

The security department is responsible for the security array of the port and its entrances. The department is also handling the keeping of public order, preventive actions in the criminal area and the release of cargos at the exit gates from the port or the acceptance of cargos prior to its entry into the port.


Activities of the department are performed in accordance with the national organs in charge of the subject.

The security center constitutes a command center for the port to which and from which various reports are transmitted. The center is manned 24 hours a day, 365 day annually.

The Security Unit performs its total activities thru several units:

  • The guards’ unit
  • A security inspectors unit
  • A cargo inspectors unit

 The security department has work interfaces with other organs:

  • Boarders’ control – the examination of crews and passengers on cargo ships as well as tourist ships exiting and entering the State of Israel thru the Port of Ashdod.
  • Customs – release of cargos and other initiated activities to prevent smuggling.
  • The navy base – cooperation in the security field from a maritime aspect and the routine current activities.
