Ashdod Port Company unveils maritime technology hub

Port of Ashdod Chairman of the Board of Directors Shaul Schneider stated: "the port's innovation department provides significant added value and makes the Port of Ashdod a unique technological hub that serves the port itself, innovation in ports as a whole, and gives a significant boost to Israeli high-tech. This is another opportunity to make a change in the traditional industry and become an innovative port with groundbreaking solutions that serves as an example for ports around the world."


Ashdod Port Company today (12.11) unveils its maritime technology hub, which specializes in supply chain. With support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, economic attachés from over 40 countries arrived at the Port of Ashdod, including: the US, France, Japan, China, India, Belgium, the Netherlands, the UK, Nigeria, Sri Lanka, Hungary, Czechia, Chile, Slovakia and more, with the aim of introducing them to the startups that have operated at the port in the past few years. According to a government decision, the port may invest up to $55 million in the companies. To date, the Port of Ashdod has made equity investments of some $3 million into 5 companies in practice.


The event was held at the Port of Ashdod and attended by Chairman of the Port of Ashdod Board of Directors Shaul Schneider, Deputy Director-General and Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Economic Division Yael Rabia Tzadok, Ashdod Port Company CEO Nissan Levy, Ashdod Port Company Director of Innovation and Investment Roy Avrahami, economic attachés, the port's premium clients as well as major players in the fields of technology, venture capital and diplomacy. The event presented projects by five Israeli startups operating in Ashdod Port: Spinframe, Treedis, Flyz, Makalu, Salvador.


The technology hub's unveiling supplements the port's efforts in the field of technology, under which it has supported some 100 startups in various fields since 2021, including operations, logistics, cyber security and safety, some of which are already been integrated and currently operate in the Port of Ashdod as well as in innovation embassies around the world, including Barcelona and New Jersey, to name a few. Through the unique collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, startups will be able to use diplomatic and business infrastructures to introduce technologies to various ports around the globes.


The event introduced the following startups:

Makalu Optics, chaired by Shai Agassi, develops LiDAR technology that grants the port strong perception and planning capabilities as well as the ability to meet varied requirements for different port applications.


TREEDIS, which develops and markets an advanced digital twins solution based on virtual and augmented reality with real-time connectivity features, integration into existing systems, and advanced sharing capabilities, alongside knowledge preservation benefits for the organization;


FLYZ Robotics, which develops an autonomous system that operates miniature drone robots with unique capabilities that enable the performance of complex tasks for long periods of time in a wide variety of scenarios, including security, safety, and logistics. The company is executing groundbreaking projects in Israel and Singapore;


Spinframe, which develops a unique technology for automated photography systems, combined with AI technology to identify damage in cars disembarking from ships, without the need for delays;


Salvador Technologies, a cyber company that enables rapid recovery from cyber-attacks and failures in some 30 seconds;
