Cohen said "truck drivers are an inseparable part of the logistic chain of activity in the port of Ashdod. We highly appreciate their work and view them as are partners".
"Truck Drivers Day" is a part of an organizational effort in the port to show appreciation to truck drivers who transport cargos from the port and into the port inside Israel. On this day drivers receive refreshment (donuts and water) and souvenirs at the port's entry gates.
About 4000 trucks arrive at the gates of Ashdod Port daily. The advanced main gate has 32 lanes for trucks: 14 entry lanes and 18 exit lanes. Entry and exit is executed by computerized systems that identify and weigh the trucks automatically.
