The report reflects the port's diverse social-environmental activity: The company continues to invest in the development of human capital and employee training, promoting a culture of safety and advancing occupational diversity and gender equality, whereas 20% of all new employees during the period of the report were from minority populations.
During the period of the report the Port Company began to advance and implement environmental projects with an unprecedented investment of more than 164 million shekels, including the acquisition of advanced bulk unloading devices, establishing an independent air monitoring system, publishing a tender for the establishment of a green power station on the port premises, and more.
The Port Company also took daring steps to advance the technological innovation in areas related to the sea and port work; with over 20 start-up companies in various stages of cooperation with the Port Company and a few of them in commercial maturity phases.
In addition, the company continued to support a large number of social projects that are conducted by organizations and non-profits from the city of Ashdod and the region surrounding the port: Ort Yami, Israeli Marine Mammal Research and Assistance Center, Municipal Authority for the Prevention of Addiction and Violence, Ziv Youth, Enosh, and more.
The port's corporate responsibility report was written according to the international GRI SRS standard and it meets the disclosure requirements at the CORE level. The report received the GRI approval for proper reporting on topics that are material to the organization and its stakeholders, and it is part of the company's efforts to adopt advanced management standards.
The Port Company was ranked in the Platinum category in the organizational rankings of Maala for corporate responsibility for 2018 and 2019.
