CEO of Ashdod Port: Almost two-thirds of the goods that pass through Ashdod Port involve trade between Israel and Europe


The European Union's Ambassador to Israel, Emanuele Giaufret, conducted an official visit at Ashdod Port accompanied by other senior EU officials. During the visit he met with Ashdod Port CEO, Shiko Zana, who gave him an overview of recent developments at the Port, including the acquisition of equipment and upgrading existing infrastructure, significant progress in the development of the port's technological arm, as well as preparation for the upcoming competition.
 
During the tour they discussed the implications of the extensive trade between Israel and the European Union. Shiko Zana, CEO of Ashdod Port noted that almost two-thirds of the goods that pass through the port every year involves trade between Israel and Europe: “This is a deep and significant partnership for both parties and we expect the existing processes to continue to accelerate. Ashdod Port plays a key role in the relationship between Israel and the European countries thanks to the port's professionalism and many years of experience".
 
The European Union's Ambassador praised the cooperation and during the visit he discussed options for increasing the cooperation. He also noted that he intends to schedule a visit at the port for all of the ambassadors of the European Union.
