According to Sagis, “It is noticeable, that the Company succeeds to maintain an economic tendency of stability in its operational data during the months of January – November 2008, compared to the same period in the year 2007, which was an exceptional operational year for the Company. The Ashdod Port Company continues, and will continue in the future to take all the measures, at its disposal, to maintain its financial stability and its growth, even under not simple economic reality conditions”.
During this period, the total number of containers unloaded and loaded, amounted to about 754,076 TEU as compared with 746,446 TEU during the same months in 2007, i.e., an increase of 1% occurred. This data indicates maintaining of the containers’ activity of the port company. The total cargos unloaded and loaded in the port during this period, amounted to about 14,481 ton compared with 14,779 ton during the same months last year. During the same months, an increase of 28% occurred in the import of vehicles.
During this period, the average operational waiting time for cargo ships (without installation ships and fluids) was 10.8 hours as compared with 39.3 hours during the parallel period last year, namely a significant decrease of 72.4%. The total stay time of cargo ships (without installation ships and fluids) was 54.6 hours compared to 91.7 hours during the same period last year, i.e., a meaningful decrease of 40.4%.
