The purchased forklifts are manufactured by KALMAR, which won the procurement in a public tender. The forklifts are designated to become operational within two weeks.
In addition, the company has purchase 11 TERBERG container tow-trucks. The tow-trucks are equipped with a new engine which meets European standards. The 11 tow-trucks are the first out of 33 tow-trucks due to arrive at the port in 2008. The tow-tracks replace the Ottawa tow-trucks which have served the port for over 10 years. After receiving all the tow-trucks the port tow-truck fleet will consists of about 96 tow-trucks.
According to Shuki Sagis, CEO of the Ashdod Port company, "We are constantly acting to purchase addition equipment for the port's operational array, in order to meet the existing and anticipated growth in the port's activity and provide the best service to our clients".
