The Ashdod Port Company renovates pier 7 at a total cost of about NIS 5 Million

The Ashdod Port Company announced the renovation of pier 7 in the port for a total cost of approximately five Million NIS. The renovation will be spread intermittently over a period of two years.

Pier 7 at the Ashdod Port was constructed in 1975. Currently, for the first time after 30 years, the pier will undergo renovations. Under this plan, two bridge cranes will be moved from pier 7 to 22 in order to improve the capabilities of the new containers’ pier.

The length of pier 22 is about 250 meters, and after the renovation, feeder ships of up to 150 meters will be able to dock next to it.

Additionally, two multipurpose derricks were rehabilitated and converted into container cranes. The cost of the implementation was about 3.5 Million NIS.

According to Shuki Sagis, the CEO of the Ashdod Port Company, “The Ashdod Port Company is continuously engaged in purchasing equipment and renovating the existing equipment in the port. This is done in order to constantly increase the port’s outputs and improve customer service.”
